Ever since SeaChange owner and founder Lindsay Sisson was young, her dream had always been to one day have her very own storefront. Being a lifelong resident of Aquidneck Island, she always imagined having that storefront located right in the heart of downtown Newport, Rhode Island.

Fast forward to early 2024, Lindsay and her then 15-year-old daughter Kate, noticed they were always talking about the increase of debris and litter they were seeing around the island and how it only seemed to be getting worse. They would talk about ways to change this, along with other things in their community, and one day, maybe, they could make a difference.

One day when they were at a local beach, they decided they were going to stop just talking about it and they were going to do something; they would start to be the change they wanted to “sea.” As a team, they decided to raise awareness and to spark change in their community of Aquidneck Island.

…that’s when SeaChange was born.

One thing led to another and with the start of SeaChange, along with the support of family and friends, our retail store was founded and opened in November 2024. Starting our retail store was a great way to increase opportunities and possibilities to help our community, while fulfilling a dream and passion for retail.

SeaChange is focused on a mission of carrying quality items at affordable prices, while giving back. A percentage of our proceeds go back into our local community of Aquidneck Island through hosted events, such as donation drives and beach cleanups. 

We are so thankful and grateful for everyone who has supported us, our customers, and to all who are helping us be the change we want to “sea” in our community.
